Foundation (Prep)

👉 Why this combination works: The information report unit links with the Visual Arts unit and Science unit making it easier for both teachers and students to make connections and dig deeper into the topics they are studying. The Design Technology unit should be a fun and hands on way for students to end the year and those maths topics should be relatively easy to tick off your list before report cards are due!

Year 1

👉 Why this works: The Health and Media units in Year 1 this term link seamlessly. The Procedural unit in writing can be used to help students how to understand how to map out the steps they need to take to create the moving media designs. The remaining Maths units for this term should be simple enough for teachers to easily cover before report cards are due!

Year 2

👉 Why this works: Reflection and self-expression balance well with hands-on science and exploration in Year 2’s term 4 plan. Maths consolidates core operations and more simple concepts that should be easy to teach before report cards are due.

Year 3

👉 Why this works: Science is supported by Information Report writing this term in Year 3. While HASS is supported by Drama and Media Arts to create a well-balanced curriculum for term 4 in Year 3.

Year 4

👉 Why this works: This term in Year 4 the Information Report unit links closely with HASS. The study of the water cycle compliments this environmental focus and Media Arts works to capture the weather element of science to help students explore the concept further.

Year 5

👉 Why this works: Term 4 in Year 5 should move pretty seamlessly through topics as they all take a very environmental them. The Narrative Poetry unit draws all the units together (including the Arts) to give students a focus for their writing as well as knowledge base to draw inspiration from.

Year 6

👉 Why this works: Writing and Media Arts make for a fun way to consolidate content learnt in science this term in Year 6. While HASS and Health focus further on multiculturalism and appreciation of diversity of culture.

By saving simpler, more practical topics until Term 4, you will be able to focus on consolidation, creativity, and reporting instead of introducing heavy new content. And with the linked units above, you can skip the planning grind entirely and head into Term 4 feeling prepared and confident.
